Here in Syracuse today the weather forecast called for a cold front to come through and cause some severe thunderstorms. It turned out to be a beautiful day, but if the weather east of here is any indication, that could change. Here’s video of a tornado that touched down on I-90, the New York State Thruway. (Via Keep Albany Boring) This was taken at the Mohawk rest area, there isn’t much to see until the 5:50 mark. You can clearly see the twister, then you’ll hear the woman recording it, and she’s clearly frightened. Who wouldn’t be?
I did just hear on the news that nobody was injured by this tornado, but there was some building damage. (If this was the same tornado. Sheesh, I hope it was the only one. That region had enough weather last week to last them for quite a while. This is the last thing they needed.)
Update: The woman who recorded the video noted on the You Tube page that this occurred at about 5:30 PM.
Update 2: The threat of severe thunderstorms in the Syracuse area has passed, now they are just predicting heavy rains overnight.
